Today, Verdant Esports announces a significant roster update as we bid farewell to Mohamad “Ducky” Nourelden and welcome back Matas “Extinct” Strumila. While it’s always difficult to part ways with a valued team member, we are equally excited to embrace the return of a familiar face who has been a key part of the historic successes of this core roster.

Mohamad “Ducky” Nourelden has been a large part of Verdant CS since joining the organisation in August 2023. In contributing his talent, dedication, and strategic insight to the team he has been a part of many memorable moments including winning Insomnia i72 and the TradeIt UK Masters. We support him wholeheartedly in his future endeavours and look forward to seeing where his journey takes him next.

As we bid farewell to Ducky, we are thrilled to announce the return of Matas “Extinct” Strumila. Extinct’s comeback marks a homecoming for a player who has been a cornerstone of Verdant in the past. His deep understanding of the game and experience make him an invaluable addition to our roster.

Extinct’s return is not just a boost to our lineup but also a testament to the strong bonds and mutual respect that define our team. His familiarity with how we play and team dynamics should ensure a seamless transition and positions us strongly for the challenges ahead. We are confident that with Extinct back in the fold, we will continue to build upon the successes we’ve had.

Speaking on the change, Ciaran “Biscu” King had this to say:

It's always hard to say goodbye to a player and teammate that's been part of the team for nearly a year, going through ups and downs together and spending so much time in close proximity almost everyday, you become close. So it's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Mo, he has been an exemplary example of how one should conduct themselves in a professional team environment throughout his tenure he has also worked tirelessly along with the rest of the team to improve the teams fortunes and strive for greatness, So I would like to thank him for his time and sacrifice with us wish him well in his future endeavours.

We are very pleased to be welcoming back Matas to the roster after his university education concluded some weeks ago, Matas has been with the core of this team since well before we signed with verdant, he is part of our identity as a team and we were not so likely to let him go so easily. We have had some issues regarding getting the roster into the place we have wanted it to be, but I firmly believe we have crafted a seriously strong roster with the additions of Vacancy and Diviiii since the new year and now with Matas returning to the fold the confidence can continue to grow amongst the team and our fans.
